Super CCD

Well folks we all know that yesterday (06-10-2009) world of physics got three more crowns. One for the groundbreaking achievements concerning the transmission of light in fibre for optical communication and another for the invention of an imaging semiconductor circuit – the CCD (Charge Coupled Device) sensor.
Well coming to the introduction of CCD, CCD technology was invented by Nobel Prize winners Willard Boyle and George E. Smith at AT&T Bell Labs, in 1969.
So let me take you to the next level of these winners.
Super CCD is an advanced version of CCD and has been developed by Fujifilm in the early 90’s. It allows higher horizontal and vertical resolution. It uses Octagonal pixels rather than rectangular pixels.
Fujifilm further developed this Super CCD to Super CCD HR and Super CCD SR. HR stands for High Resolution and SR stands for Super Dynamic Range.
In mid 2005 Fujifilm came up with 5th Generation Super CCD HR sensor cameras, the FinePix S5200 and S9000.
And in 2006 Fuji introduced 6h generation of Super CCD Sensor Cameras - F40fd, FinePix S6500fd etc.
In 2008 they introduced new Super CCD sensor, the Super CCD EXR.

Audi eTron Concept 2009:

Audi e-tron Concept, a high-performance sports car with a purely electric drive system. Four motors - two each at the front and rear axles - drive the wheels, making the concept car a true Quattro. Producing 230 kW and 4,500 Nm of torque, the two-seater accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, and from 60 to 120 km/h in 4.1 seconds.

The eTron concept uses water-cooled lithium ion batteries to reduce weight and increase power, while aerodynamics, weight, and rolling resistance were engineered from the ground up to work with the new electronic system. The car also has something called "car to x communications," which allows the sensors and systems to interact with, say, traffic lights to determine the best driving strategy. That may be even more futuristic than Jeff Daniels' Tron suit.

Audi eTron concept:

·         313 hp (230 kW)
·         3300 lb-ft of torque
·         0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds
·         150-mile range
